Box girder formwork is a special standardized steel formwork for cast-in-place or precast box girder concrete construction in bridge engineering. It serves as the key construction tooling for bridge superstructure. It shapes freshly poured concrete and bears concrete lateral pressure, self-weight, construction live load and wind load, to guarantee the section dimension, alignment, flatness and structural accuracy of box girders and control concrete forming quality.
Fabricated from high-quality Q235B steel plate, the box girder formwork is composed of face plates, stiffening ribs, walers, flange connection plates, tie bolts, support systems and adjusting bearings. According to construction technology, it is divided into precast box girder formwork and cast-in-place box girder formwork, adaptable to single-box single-cell, single-box multi-cell and variable cross-section box girders. Adopting modular design, the formwork features tight joints, high rigidity and small deformation, which can effectively prevent slurry leakage and dislocation, and produce box girders with smooth and straight surfaces after pouring.
The formwork is easy to assemble and disassemble with high reusability. It is suitable for multiple construction technologies including precast beam yard pedestal construction, cast-in-place on support and cantilever casting by hanging basket. It improves construction efficiency and ensures both appearance and internal quality of girders, and is widely used in expressways, railway bridges, interchanges, municipal viaducts and other engineering projects.
